It has been over a 100 degrees the past few days. Phoebe is taking it quite well. She is panting a bit, but seems to be perfectly comfortable lying on the tiled floor. Everyone is feeling pretty miserable. We do not have air conditioning so it is just us, the house and the heat.

I tried to feed Phoebe some ice cubes but she did not want anything to do with them. That is when this little brain child (me) came up with berry ice treats. Yep. Berries in ice.
I use an ice tray that creates smaller cubes (or rounds, or whatever shape they really are), plop a berry in each section, cover with water and freeze them. I like to use trays with smaller sections, so the berry is not completely lost.
I use “Good Living Silicone Mini Ice Cube Trays.” You can find them on Amazon for 5 dollars or so. I like these because you can push out a single ice-cube versus fumbling around with an old-fashioned tray. Plus, the cubes are smaller than those made in a regular ice tray, so a smaller dog could handle them.
When the berry cubes are solid, I just pop one out, roll it in my hand real quick to make sure it isn’t going to stick to her tongue (an idiosyncrasy), and hand it over.
I am amazed that Phoebe actually spends a little time chomping on these things. She usually gobbles down treats without bothering to chew them. Once again, the simplest things turn out to be the best.
