While researching all of Phoebe’s medical issues, one thing keeps popping up: nearly all of them are a result of some level of immune system suppression.

There is not much one can do when a dog is born with a bunk immune system. The best we can do is give them an edge by providing an optimal, immune boosting diet.

That is the whole reason for my obsession with Phoebe’s diet. I started to feed her a raw diet, but then I learned that the ability to manage the salmonella in raw chicken occurs in the tummies of healthy dogs. With Phoebe already showing signs of a weakened immune system, it just did not seem like a wise choice.
