Oh that dog of mine!

Yes. I remember when I vowed that Phoebe would not be allowed on my bed. Then I broke down and let her lie up there as long as she stayed on her own blanket; now its a free-for-all.

It reminds me of when my son was born. I regularly claimed that I would not dealing with Barney. Keep in mind this was 22 years ago when Barney was the ‘thing’ – kids loved it; parents did not.  The next thing I know, we have Barney slippers, PJs, sheets,  videos and the stupid song stuck in my head.

Like the Barney gig, every premature vow I made about never  allowing Phoebe to hop on the couch or beds is out the window.

Oh! Hi there! I didn't think you were coming back, so I decided to keep the pillow warm for you.

When Phoebe is lying on the bed with me, she takes an open spot. She used to, without fail, hop onto my side of the bed. For being a submissive dog, she sure can be very stubborn at times; staking claim on my bed is one area where she excels in stubbornness. If I get out of bed for a minute, the second that I am out of sight, she takes over my spot.

Yeah. Yeah. Some say it is an alpha dog thing and needs to stop immediately. Phoebe is definitely not an alpha dog, so I will let her have these “alpha” moments. Maybe I should thank her for keeping my place warm for me; it is far better than having a stupid Barney song stuck in my head.
